Just Around The Bend

To know and love a man such as Ray
An honor, a privelege forming us to the end of our days
For me and others it will not end
Because our Dad,our friend, is just around the bend.

If you knew him you would agree
He felt acceptance of others was the key
A friendly soul, and tools to lend
You always knew he was just around the bend.

Dad and Grampa were his claim to fame
He didn't really need the World's silly game
A gentle touch with a kind word was his message to send
We can feel him and he's just around the bend.

His youth was not easy but he didn't complain,
Life was too short to pass on that pain.
He worked and learned, reponsibilities to tend
Always a job for him just around the bend.

Uff Da and pig latin were part of his speech
Some of the words escaped most of our reach
As he fished and camped with family and friends,
The call went out, "Go with Grampa just around the bend"

Ray never quite knew or understood
How people felt when he looked under our hood
"The motor wouldn't run", so to work he would tend
Your confidence grew, a solution was just around the bend

No words can explain or change the day
Our grief, our tears, we're without our Ray
But God called him home so on our own we must fend
But can't you feel him? He's just around the bend

We know he took care of us all in one way or another
A husband, A friend, A Dad and A Brother
His toils and labors on earth have come to an end
Get ready God, Ray just came around the bend
